Couples/Relationship Therapy

Relationship Therapy for Couples in Rayleigh, Essex

Relationships can be one of the most meaningful parts of our lives. They can also be one of the places we feel most stuck, misunderstood, lonely, frustrated, or hurt.

You might find yourselves having the same argument over and over again. Perhaps communication has become difficult, resentment has started to build, or it feels like you're speaking completely different languages despite caring deeply about one another.

I provide relationship therapy and couples counselling in Rayleigh, Essex, working with couples who want to improve communication, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional connection, navigate life changes, or better understand the patterns that keep them feeling stuck.

Whether you're married, living together, dating, separated but trying to find a way forward, or navigating a significant life transition, therapy can provide a space for honest conversation and deeper understanding.

There are no winners in Relationship Therapy

One of the things I often say about couples therapy is: There are no winners.

When relationships become painful, it's understandable that conversations can start to feel like a debate about who is more hurt, who is more right, who caused the problem, or whose version of events is the correct one. Often both people arrive carrying genuine hurt. Both people have experiences that make sense from where they're standing. Both people have needs that matter.

Relationship therapy isn't about deciding who wins the argument.

It's about creating enough safety to become curious about both experiences at the same time.

Because many relationship problems aren't caused by one bad person and one good person.

They're often created by two people trying to protect themselves in ways that accidentally move them further apart.

What brings couples to Relationship Therapy?

Every relationship is different, sometimes couples arrive with a very clear issue they want to work on.  Sometimes they simply know that something doesn't feel right anymore.  Both are welcome.

Some common reasons people seek couples therapy could include:

  • Communication difficulties

  • Frequent arguments or conflict

  • Feeling disconnected from each other

  • Loss of intimacy or closeness

  • Blended family challenges

  • Feeling unheard or misunderstood

  • Life transitions and major changes

  • Trust issues

Working with me

Couples therapy in Rayleigh, Essex or online

I don't come into relationship therapy with a script or an agenda about how your relationship should look.

Instead, I see therapy as a space where we can slow things down and get curious about what's happening between you.

You bring what's been happening, what feels stuck, and what matters to you. My role is to offer a steady, neutral space where both of you can be heard, even when things feel messy, emotional, or difficult to say out loud.

Relationship therapy isn't about deciding who's right or wrong. More often, I'm interested in understanding the patterns that keep showing up and what they might be protecting. Sometimes beneath an argument about dishes, texting, sex, parenting, or money, there's something much more vulnerable trying to be heard.

Depending on what feels useful, I may gently draw on ideas from attachment theory, Imago dialogue, the Gottman Method, and Transactional Analysis to help make sense of communication patterns, emotional reactions, and relationship dynamics.

I work from a sex-positive perspective and welcome conversations about intimacy, desire, boundaries, and difference. My practice is inclusive of gender, sexual, and relationship diversity (GSRD), including LGBTQ+ and trans clients, and aims to offer a space where all identities and relationship structures are met with curiosity, respect, and care.
